Here is a look at the numbers from the Washington Redskins 27-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night:<\/p>\n
308 – Total yards for the Redskins, 46 more than Philadelphia’s 262. Considering the Eagles’ dominance on the scoreboard, it’s a stat that almost always means that there is a big turnover number involved somewhere.<\/p>\n
284 – Yards passing for Jason Campbell, on 29 of 43 attempts. He has other numbers in this list that were unfortunately more telling on the game’s result.<\/p>\n
156 – Yards passing for Donovan McNabb, on 15 of 25 attempts.<\/p>\n
78 – Yards receiving on 8 receptions for TE Fred Davis – more than any other player on the field. When Chris Cooley left the game, Davis was thrust into a more prominent role. His best performance as a pro wasn’t without fault, but he wasn’t drafted to block. <\/p>\n
67 – Yards rushing on ONE carry for DeSean Jackson, and on the game’s fourth play. Ouch.<\/p>\n
47 – Chris Cooley is lost for the season. What do you even say? Get well Captain Chaos.<\/p>\n
45 – Yard swing on a nearly botched penalty call. Are you kidding me? It’s a good thing Danny Smith knew what was going on, because nobody else seemed to.<\/p>\n
43 – Yards rushing on 14 carries for Clinton Portis, in one of his least memorable performances in a Redskin uniform.<\/p>\n
42- Yard kick return for Rock Cartwright, who also had a great 11-yard run inside the red zone. He played HARD all night long.<\/p>\n
22 – Yard touchdown reception for Devin Thomas. Unbelievably, not only was it his first TD of the season, but his first as a pro. That has as much to do with opportunity as ability, so congratulations to Thomas.<\/p>\n
20 – Team fumbles for the Redskins on the season, more than any other NFL team – 25% more in fact.<\/p>\n
10 – Fumbles in 7 games for Campbell, after 2 more against Philly. Wow. Campbell’s 10 personal drops are as much or more than 15 other TEAMS. <\/p>\n
8 – Fumble losses on the season for the Redskins on the aforementioned 20 fumbles. Only Oakland (10), St. Louis (9), and Tennessee (9) have more. <\/p>\n
8 – Punts for Eagle Sav Rocca – the Redskins defense actually played a very good game, save two bad mistakes in the secondary.<\/p>\n
7 – Punts for Hunter Smith, in his first game back from injury. He had a 57-yarder, and put the Eagles inside the 20, 4 different times. Not only did he show little sign of being injured, but with so many punts, he basically got paid for a physiotherapy session. <\/p>\n
6 – Sacks by the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s so easy for some people to place all the blame on JC, but he’s running for his life back there, and has no confidence in there being a pocket for him to throw out of.<\/p>\n
5 – Rushes for -5 yards for McNabb; considering the rushing numbers that DM has hung on the Redskins in the past, the Redskins’ front four did a great job of containing him.<\/p>\n
5 – Tackles and yet another sack for Andre Carter, who continues to play with heart, intensity, and deserved success.<\/p>\n
4 – Turnovers killed the Redskins – three fumbles, and a pick-six are hard to overcome in any game. They were the difference maker in the game.<\/p>\n
1 – Fumbled punt return for Antwaan Randle El, who continues to struggle on special teams. Hasn’t the time come to go with a younger, perhaps hungrier option? <\/p>\n
1- Sack for Albert Haynesworth. Just an excuse to get a stat in, and end on a positive note. Big Al continues to prove why he’s arguably the best DT in the league. For a guy with a bad ankle, he sure played a lot too, and with no histrionics. What an incredible football player.<\/p>\n
The Redskins have next weekend off, before traveling to Atlanta to face the (currently) 4-2 Falcons on November 8th.<\/p>\n
