The 2007 NFL Draft kicked off on Saturday with it’s first three rounds of selections. As usual, there were some surprises, some heartbreaks and some shrewd maneuvering. Here is a summary of the first round selections.<\/p>\n

2007 NFL Draft – Round 1 Picks<\/h1>\n

With CJ gone, Gruden takes the first defensive player of the draft.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Caught up in the Thomas hype? Brown a bit of a stretch at five.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

With no trade suitors, Washington takes one of the safest picks in the draft.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Stunned that peterson fell to them, they have little choice but to grab him.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
8<\/td>\n8<\/td>\nAtlanta Falcons (from Houston)<\/td>\nJamaal Anderson<\/td>\nDE<\/td>\nArkansas<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
With Landry gone, the Falcons improve their pass rush.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

9ers grab the best linebacker in the draft.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

With McGahee gone, the Bills fill a big need.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Rams needed d-line help and they got it.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
14<\/td>\n14<\/td>\nNew York Jets (from Carolina)<\/td>\nDarrelle Revis<\/td>\nCB<\/td>\nPittsburgh<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
The Jets move up and grab Revis. They probably could have stoofd pat and got him or another top CB.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
15<\/td>\n15<\/td>\nPittsburgh Steelers <\/td>\nLawrence Timmons<\/td>\nOLB<\/td>\nFlorida State<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Another good linebacker for that Pitt defense.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
16<\/td>\n16<\/td>\nGreen Bay Packers <\/td>\nJustin Harrell<\/td>\nDT<\/td>\nTennessee<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Harrell comes off the board about half a round early.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
17<\/td>\n17<\/td>\nDenver Broncos (from Jacksonville)<\/td>\nJarvis Moss<\/td>\nDE<\/td>\nFlorida<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Great move by the Jags to trade the pick to Denver and move down just four spots.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
18<\/td>\n18<\/td>\nCincinnati Bengals <\/td>\nLeon Hall<\/td>\nCB<\/td>\nMichigan<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
What? A Bengal without character issues? Good pick by Marvin Lewis.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Griffin seems a stretch when both Reggie Nelson and Brandon Meriweather still on the board.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

G-Men try to upgrade their secondary.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Finally Quinn goes and to the Browns anyway! Solid move by the Browns to pull the trigger on the deal.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Chiefs fill a hole with a guy that may surprise some people.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Great pick for the Pats. Good player and he fills a need.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Beason’s a little smallish, but one of the top linebackers in the country.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The Cowboys did well in the Browns trade and then nearly undo it, by trading up to get a defensive end for their stable.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
27<\/td>\n27<\/td>\nNew Orleans Saints <\/td>\nRobert Meachem<\/td>\nWR<\/td>\nTennessee<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Saints need receivers and grab arguably the second best one in the crop.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
28<\/td>\n28<\/td>\nSan Francisco 49ers (from New England)<\/td>\nJoe Staley<\/td>\nOT<\/td>\nCentral Michigan<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
9ers swing a deal to grab Staley before it’s too late. <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The best guard in the draft goes to the Ravens.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Sure they needed a receiver, but Craig Davis was a surprise.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
31<\/td>\n31<\/td>\nChicago Bears <\/td>\nGreg Olsen<\/td>\nTE<\/td>\nMiami (FL)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Good fit for the Bears as Olsen will give Rex Grossman another option in the passing game.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
