Week 8 added a few more strange twists in what has turned out to be a bizarre season for hognosticating. How do the Faiders, with 98 yards of offense, take out the defending World Champs? Incredibly four hognosticators picked the Faiders. One hell of a pick by those four! Many thanks to the Jaguars for upsetting Philthy, and shame on the Broncos and the Panthers for blowing leads and giving this Hognosticator false hope. <\/p>\n
Cincinnati at Baltimore<\/b>
\nThe Bengals have dropped three of their last four after starting off the season 3-0 and are struggling on both sides of the ball. The Raisins and their defense will be too tough at home in this season\u2019s first match up of these divisional rivals. The Raisins will have a comfortable 2-game lead in the AFC North at mid-season, with the win.

Green Bay at Buffalo <\/b>
\nThe Packers are playing with confidence, while the Bills have lost three straight. The Pack are playing better on the road and will reach .500 with the win and face the Vikes next week in a big division match up in Minnesota.

Miami at Chicago <\/b>
\nBills, Cards, 9ers and now the Fish \u2013 what a nice quarter of schedule for da Bears. It\u2019ll be interesting to see how they stack up against the Gnats in New York next week.

Atlanta at Detroit <\/b>
\nThis is not the week for the Lions to be missing their two starting defensive tackles. The Falcons have the worthless Brownies next week and should be 7-2 going in to week eleven to face the Raisins in Baltimore. That game\u2019s followed by a division show down against the Saints, who manhandled the Falcons in week three … then they come to Washington.

Tennessee at Jacksonville <\/b>
\nThe Titans won\u2019t receive as many gifts as they received last week from the Texans. The Jags win two in a row for the first time since beating the Pukes and the Steelers to start the season.

Houston at New York Giants <\/b>
\nThe Texans were a big disappointment last week and should have beaten the Titans. They find a running game, yet Carr struggles with turnovers and gets benched? Carr will be wishing he were still on the sideline this week in New York when Count Gapula sinks his teeth into him. Unfortunately we\u2019ll have to suffer through more of the fake jump shots \u2026 enough of that already.

Kansas City at St. Louis <\/b>
\nHerm Edwards is going to have a tough decision on his hands if Damon Huard continues to play as well as he has with Trent Green cleared to play as early as next week. Look for Larry Johnson to continue to produce against a Ram defense that gave up 216 yards rushing last week to the Bolts.

New Orleans at Tampa Bay <\/b>
\nAlthough nicked, look for the Saints to get their running game re-established this week against the Bucs’ 30th ranked rush defense.

\nNothing would be finer and erase more bad memories of this season than to beat the Pukes this week. Being in the heart of Puke country and having to continually hear about their new savior at quarterback is difficult to stomach. However, Sunday night\u2019s sideline love-fest with Manboobs, Homo and T.O., was just plain change the channel material.

Minnesota at San Francisco <\/b>
\n41-0 at the end of the first half! Are you kidding me? With Mike Nolan as head coach and Norv Turner as the OC, does it really surprise anyone that the 49ers suck?

Denver at Pittsburgh <\/b>
\nHow can the Steelers be favored in this game? The Steelers are by far the biggest disappointment in the league so far this season. The Broncos get their revenge for last season\u2019s loss in the AFC Championship game, and the World Champs fall to 2-6.

Cleveland at San Diego<\/b>
\nThe Bolts will keep pace with the Broncos. The Brownies offense is pathetic and won\u2019t be able to score enough points to keep this one close.

Indianapolis at New England <\/b>
\nThis game could go toward determining home-field advantage in the AFC. It\u2019s time for the Colts to drop one – the Broncos should have beaten them last week, dangit. The Pats have the better defense and the better quarterback. Imagine Brady with Harrison and Wayne.

Oakland at Seattle<\/b>
\nA Monday night match-up of Seneca Wallace and Andrew Walter \u2013 certainly not what the scheduling folks at ESPN had in mind. The home team has won the last eight times these teams have met. The Hawks play tough at home and will win despite not having Hasselbeck or Alexander.

Unfortunately, the new software used to run the Hognostications is giving us a bit of a headache this week. Never mind. My own alchemy of the results obtained for week 8 indicate that the following seven Hognosticators ended up placed in a tie at the top spot with a score of 9 – 5 : NikiH, 1niksder, TincoSkin, joebagadonuts, rick301, gus and DCGloryYears82879. Congratulations! <\/p>\n
Second place is also a sharing arrangement among many others at 8 – 6, including yours truly. <\/p>\n
JPM36 remains in first place, followed closely by more than 10 Hognosticators at a distance of five games or less. I wish I could say a bit more about the season standings but I will be better prepared next week. Sorry. <\/p>\n
