The AFC won the 2005 Pro Bowl on Sunday, thanks to 3 touchdown passes by Peyton Manning and 2 scores from Hines Ward, including the first ever kickoff return for a touchdown on a spectacular onside kick recovery.<\/p>\n

Marcus Washington, the lone Redskins representative, played solid football finishing with 2.5 tackles and a broken pass play.<\/p>\n

Washington started well, garnering a half tackle on the opening kickoff. Then on the fifth play from scrimmage, Washington decked Tony Richardson to break up a Peyton Manning pass in the flat. Manning got his revenge in the second quarter however, when Antonio Gates beat him for a touchdown with 6:01 remaining in the first half.<\/p>\n

The third quarter was relatively quiet for the 6-3, 247-pound Auburn product, but as the Redskin\u2019s defense often did during the regular season, he woke up in the fourth quarter, as the AFC began to run the ball a bit more. <\/p>\n

With 6:03 left in the game, Washington leveled LaDainian Tomlinson after a gain of 5 yards. Then with 3:33 left, he chased down Rudi Johnson after an 18 yard run.<\/p>\n

In addition to the game-related activities, Washington brought his parents, his sister and his grandmother to Hawaii to enjoy the weather and his first career Pro Bowl.<\/p>\n

Redskin Pro Bowl News and Notes<\/p>\n

Peyton Manning became the first player since Joe Theismann<\/a> (1983) to be named the league MVP and the Pro Bowl MVP in the same season.<\/p>\n

Darrell Green participated in the legends game, and his speed paid dividends, including a long touchdown catch for team Marino, in which Green left his defender 5 yards behind him.<\/p>\n

Green also participated in the preliminary rounds of the NFL\u2019s Fastest Man competition, and event Green owned for four years of his career. The future Hall-of-Famer showed well, but fell to Allen Rossum of the Falcons in his heat.<\/p>\n

While Marcus Washington was the only current Redskin in the Pro Bowl, there were several former Redskins in attendance:<\/p>\n
