The Washington Redskins released 22 players on Sunday, naming 7 of them to the 8-man practice squad. The practice squad will consist of the following 8 players: <\/p>\n
Sultan McCullough lead the team in rushing yards (212) and receptions (52) this preseason. He was on the 53-man roster last season after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of USC. After all was said and done, he was unable to wrestle a roster spot away from Rock Cartwright. <\/p>\n
Gari Scott was a pleasant surprise for the Redskins this preseason. He played well at wide receiver, but made his mark on special teams. He supported his wife as she battled cancer and he stated that it put his football into perspective and made it easier to deal with the pressures associated with fighting for a spot on the team. <\/p>\n
Pita Elisara spent the offseason in NFL Europe with the Rhein Fire after spending time on the active roster with the Redskins last season. He has also spent time with the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles. He is a versatile offensive lineman who can play both Tackle and Guard. <\/p>\n
Ben Nowland entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the San Francisco 49ers last season. He was released and spent a few days with the Carolina Panthers before signing with the Redskins\u2019 practice squad last season. Ben has mostly played Center but played a little Guard during preseason this year. <\/p>\n
Defensive Tackle Ryan Boschetti came to the team as an undrafted rookie free agent out of UCLA. His senior season he recorded 43 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a blocked kick for the Bruins. <\/p>\n
Nic Clemons had an impressive preseason with the Redskins, after spending all of last season on the practice squad. Clemons was part of the first round of cuts made by the Redskins. He played collegiate ball at Georgia and is the nephew of Houston Texans linebacker Charlie Clemons and brother to former Redskin, Chris Clemons. <\/p>\n
Rufus Brown joined the team as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Florida State. He turned heads in the Redskins\u2019 secondary and received praise from defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. Brown registered 17 tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble in 11 games as a senior with the Seminoles. <\/p>\n
Garnell Wilds made the practice squad the same way Rufus Brown did, hard work and perseverance. Wilds was an undrafted rookie free agent out of Virginia Tech. Wilds had 31 tackles in 6 games as a Hokie his senior season. <\/p>\n
