Over/under 7 Wins?

Post by OldSchool »

Are you optimistic going into Gruden's second year? What do you think over or under 7 wins?

I am cautiously optimistic after watching SM gather some talent and I hope Gruden and the new coaches will improve the team but I am saying Under 7 wins.

Seven wins would be an achievement, particularly if we looked like a stronger team at the end of the year than at the beginning. I expect at least that if Gruden and/or Griffin want to stick around.

I think in his second year with a 4-12 record last year, that we should finish 7-9. That would at least be improvement.

SJ mentioned the other day that we were lucky in 2012 to make the playoffs. I actually agree with what he was saying. We could be lucky in a lot of ways this year. Tom Brady gets hurt before our Pats game. RGIII surprises everyone and plays considerably better than last year. We avoid the injury bug. Maybe a couple of the younger o-linemen win starting jobs and the line is better than we're expecting.

I know that's not all entirely luck, but you get my point. If the team is good enough to finish 7-9, add some luck to that and it could be a better year than a lot of us expect.

I posted my schedule prediction in another thread, and came up with 6 wins, but I think 7 sounds about right.

However, I expect other teams to look worse early on compared to Washington. Not sure why, other than recent history of better Septembers than Decembers. I also see this team hotter in the first half of the season mostly because the schedule at a glance seems easier. The team could even play better and lose near the end. The rebuilding process under SM is not a 1-year project. The team may be better and still achieve a mediocre record at best.

I think 7-9 will show progress. I'd be happy with that.

when you look at what we had last season and we ended up finding a way to get 4 games, we can't be that bad again this year, can we

6 or 7 wins is a must but more important is that we see improvement

winning 8 games and looking bad is going to mean change - these guys have to find a way to show they are improving or Scot will fire them
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I see maybe..6 wins..maybe. I could see more, I can see potential and I like the emphasis Scott is placeing of some very good defensive talent. The big unknown in this mess is Joe Barry, he is a linebackers' coach and maybe it is time for him to step up to defensive coordinator but between his inexperience at overall leadership and grudens inexperience - we have 2 guys that are getting OJT when we need seasoned pros.
I hope I'm wrong, I hope the team comes together and the defense blows everybody out of the water. I see 6 wins and reasonable potential for 2 more.

I don't consider our schedule that difficult based on last year's standings, but things surely change......

I think 7 is a good over/under number. IMHO, whether we go over or under 100% has to do with the QB. If our QB plays well, we have an offense that should be able to put up points. Our DEF has improved. If our QB doesn't produce, I don't see us winning more than 5.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

I thought the same thing and then I saw we play 3 teams coming off a buy (we play NE off our bye!) and two teams coming off Thursday games. That has changed my mind about a few W's.
