New Archive of Photo Galleries

Well I had dreaded doing it from the time I started putting everything back online, but I have finally put the old photo galleries back online. My dread was founded. It WAS an ordeal.

Firstly I spent a few hours trying to rescue, salvage and hack the old gallery software but to no avail. I gave up not because I didn't think I could figure it out, but because it wasn't a sensible solution moving forward anyway. I needed to get everything into Wordpress so that the whole site is more 'portable'. But I knew all of the data that went with the pictures would disappear if i couldn't salvage the old system.

So I just bit the bullet, and re-created all of the galleries within wordpress. I did lose all of the data, but I did fill in many-to-most of the captions anyway. And I will likely touch it up a bit later to get all of the captions at least appropriate.

It was a bittersweet project. As crappy as it was spending most of two days doing it all, it was really nostalgic and great to see a lot of the THN faces. Plus, I'm happy with how it all turned out anyway. It's 'only an archive' but one that was important to me to keep. There wasn't always social media to capture everything we do.

For some reason, I couldn't find any photos for the 2005 Camp and the 2008 camp... which I should have I think but were apparenty not in the old gallery softare. Do you have photos from 2005 or 2008 NC43?

Love the section. If any of you have pics of you with other THNers for me to add to that gallery, I would love to.
