I'm keeping a running list here.

What do you guys think of the moves? What do you still want to see? What didn't you like?

Gotta love Fitz and what we’ve done at WR.

Teammate of Scary Terry and Fitz is the perfect fit to start and/or help Taylor Heinicke grow.

I’m psyched !
Hog Bowl III, V, X Champion (2011, 2013, 2018)

Hognostication Champion (2011, 2013, 2016)

Hognostibowl XII Champion (2017, 2018)

Scalp 'em, Swamp 'em,
We will take 'em big score!

Yeah count me in on Fitz. He was the FA QB on my list going back to last November. I personally don't think we're ever going to solve QB for this team through free agency, so Fitzpatrick is a really good, affordable stop gap IMO.

My take on free agency overall is that they took a lot of the desperation out of the draft. Addressed key positions like WR and CB and hopefully freed the team up to go BPA as much as possible.

I agree, though I am shocked that we haven't done more to find a linebacker or two. Can't cover it all though, and I think that we have done a good job filling holes. Fitz isn't going to scare anyone, but he can manage a game plenty well enough to help us win ball games. Great stop gap as you said.

The only two losses that are of much significance to me are Ryan Kerrigan and Nick Sundberg. Kerrigan seems to have been tossed out in the cold for the Johnny-come-latelys, but we aren't likely to be able to keep that defensive line under contract once their rookie contracts are up. I'd love to see him re-signed just to play the backup role that he has - maybe he'd rather go elsewhere and try start. But for me, he earned the right to make that decision himself. He gave a lot to this franchise.

And sure, Sundberg is JUST the snapper and the impact is small on the field, but he was enormous off the field in the community, and never made a mistake on the field. Why even roll the dice with somebody else? Why not reward a guy with solid grass roots in the community, who is good for your team image, and let him keep on keeping on. I just never like the 'disposable' nature of some moves, and this seems like one of them. Some guy sharpening a pencil and deciding that we can save $1.87 by trading 'down' at long snapper. If the Special Teams Gods are watching, they are surely chalking us in for a disastrous snap at some point this season... likely through the end zone for a safety. Watch this space.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

Man, I haven't given up hope on Kerrigan returning at least. Somebody will sign him after the draft I bet, and it would be great if it was us.

Washington should bring back Ryan Kerrigan — soon
That Sundberg thing was weird and sad. I don't totally get it. I know he was coming off a little bit of an injury but it didn't sound like anything major and he's not an expensive guy by any stretch.

Yeah, not a big fan of it. Like I said, seems needless. I appreciate the dynamic nature of the league, but he didn't need to be replaced in my opinion.

https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/fo ... fter-draft

I keep seeing stuff about the team possibly bringing Kerrigan back. I'd love to see it strictly because he's proven to be a great guy, leader, Redskin. Honestly not that sure where he stands as a player currently, but there's no doubt he fits all of the high character, work ethic stuff that Rivera preaches.

I don't get a strong sense that they really want him back though from the quotes in articles like this one though. Any thoughts on that?

Isn't the logical answer, well if they wanted him back at all, he wouldn't still be available...

It's hard to know the real scoop here. is Kerrigan saying he wants to go somewhere where he will start and pursuing that (without success)? Obviously that brings him a much bigger pay day than 'backup' salary will be.

I think it stinks that he's still available. He's been a consummate professional throughout his career and deserves a bit better in my opinion.

It also bears mentioning that this regime seems intent on cutting ALL ties with the old regime.

My 2 cents

Sadly, I'm not sure he will find a better gig and will probably end up back here on a reduced wage and waiting for an opportunity.

A lot of times, they say we want you back, but not for what you want to get paid. See if you can get it and come back if you don't.

I wanted Kirk Cousins back, but not for what the Vikings paid him. Sometimes they get it, sometimes they don't

Kirk Cousins wasn't a pillar in the community for a decade though.

To be clear, I think what you're saying is absolutely true... I just think Ryan deserved better.

Especially if they end up picking him up anyway.

See we grabbed another DB:
https://www.profootballrumors.com/2021/ ... bby-mccain
Washington To Sign DB Bobby McCain
May 14th, 2021 at 3:54pm CST by Sam Robinson

This is breaking news. Please refresh for updates.

After meeting with the Washington Football Team earlier this week, Bobby McCain will join the defending NFC East champions. The parties agreed to a one-year deal Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com tweets.

The Dolphins released the veteran defensive back last week. Now, McCain will follow Ryan Fitzparick to the nation’s capital. McCain has worked as both a starting safety and cornerback in his six seasons as a pro.

A former fifth-round pick, McCain joined the Dolphins two regimes ago. But he endured and signed an extension with the Chris Grier-era front office. The Dolphins moved McCain to safety in 2019. After an injury-shortened season, the veteran bounced back to play in 16 games for the 2020 Dolphins edition. He will join Washington’s Landon Collins-led safety corps.
I'm guessing Apke won't be around much longer. Is Landon Collins on his way out also? I don't know what makes sense with his salary and the cap hit.

Oh I totally agree that Kerrigan is way more valuable than Cousins in terms of being a long time core Redskin. It's pretty binary. Kerrigan is, Cousins isn't. I don't know what Kerrigan's expectations were or what was being offered to say he "deserved better." But I certainly don't disagree that's the case. Snyder sucks, I have zero respect for him at all

Yeah it's a tough call, and I have no idea if Ryan just wanted to start and was told that there was no way.

But if Ryan just wanted to contribute more and be part of a rotation, I personally think that he earned the right to be given that role. If the pay was commensurate with that, then for me, he deserved the slot. Maybe it's a romantic view that can't exist in the modern NFL, to want a player to stay their entire career.

But for a guy who never missed a game, he got sat down pretty quick. :|

And it sure is tough to see him post, "Fly Eagles Fly." :lowblow:
