Bills Gameday

Post by BossHog »

Much tougher test today against the Buffalo Bills.

They pounded the Dolphins last week and looked good doing so. Much better than the week before against Pittsburgh. Which Bills team will we see?

Which Washington team will we see?

It sure would be nice to see the Washington defense play well today.

Here's some game info for you... odds, where to watch, injuries etc.

Washington Versus Buffalo

What do you expect to see?

What do you hope to see? :)

Hail!!

Welp… tough time to have this wonderful sight come back…

We lose our name… and it’s still the same broken record. No matter how we try to change we stay the same. What happened to this vaunted top 5, hell most saying bound for #1, Defense???! 46 points and 500 yards on their damn heads.

This sucks. Qb is just half of it

Yeah it was fugly wasn't it?

That front four got zero penetration today. Shocking performance from them through three games.

I always try to hold out hope… this last dose of River Boat Ron and JDR getting the best out of this D had my expectations unrealistic… going against PitsTragic and an undrafted back up who is all of 5’7 145#s with his helmet and pads on? Likely got them thinking they have “arrived” before even getting on the on-ramp!
Good news is… the trip is just starting. I fully expect to see a better end product the final 1/4 of the season… going toe to toe with the lowly giants was my eye opener. Almost feels like they got to high on that putrid excuse for a W. Sure pressure was there early, but in the 2nd half the D had Danny dimes looking like Manning, take your pick which one! Gross. Far from that elite “capitol punishment” D I had bought in to.

If THIS thumping doesn’t have them looking harder in the mirror and digging deep, then I don’t know what to say? Coaching? Fools gold? Why the F are we getting torched in the middle? I thought we had speedy Lbs in Jamin and Cole?? Why are we in so much zone? If it’s solely other coaches game planning vs our front, then why haven’t they figured out a counter punch??

I don’t have time for all 50 or what ever coaching film breakdowns and what not. Maybe we can get one of our veteran board members to give me an educated breakdown… get it “break down” :sigh:

The only positive is that it's early days of the season and they have plenty of time to turn things around.

But so far that front four has been incredibly disappointing. It's hard to pinpoint exactly why. Is it too early to talk about things with much finality? The way camps and Collective Bargaining Agrements are these days, these guys come into regular seasons A LOT "colder" than they used to. It takes a while to get up to speed.

But that's the same for both teams.

Chase hasn't been lights out. It starts there. Not because he should be thrown under the bus for it all, but his lack of presence so far, definitely has something to do with their early struggles.

If you want to dig deeper than that, the rest of the defense isn't really all that great. Hyped because of the vaunted defensive line, but patchwork secondary and linebacking crew otherwise. There's speed in the linebacking corps, but they aren't going to scare anybody. Nobody in the secondary is "shutting down" anyone, or crunching anyone regularly from the safety spot.

If that front four isn't wreaking havoc, maybe this is just what it looks like with a vanilla cast in the rest of the defense.

However...

That front four SHOULD be wreaking havoc, and that would make the rest of the defense look much better in return.

Hopefully they turn it around soon.

Our season categorically depends on it.

I hear ya… I’m by no means mailing it in… I know I always get to high on B&G players. Williams St Juste and Fuller I thought were going to be a pretty big step up from last year with Mighty Mouse Moreland and Darby- turns out it’s about a wash. Collins healthy and some “solid” depth at safety had me hopeful too. Turns out it’s still journeyman depth, and void of a Justin Simmons alpha back there. Seeing Bostic on the field so much let’s me know my hopes for better LB play isn’t well placed either.

You’re absolutely correct, we live and die by the front 4. They are also the most game planned for… however, that doesn’t stop the likes of Watt(s) Aaron Donald or geeze Miles Garret! From getting theirs. It’s the next step for Chase and Co. learning to overcome the challenges teams put forth to slow them down. They have the respect of the league, but they’ve been silenced through quick slants, intermediate routes, and double teams. The clock is fast for opposing qbs, but when they execute a quick developing play we are getting roasted- namely because it nullifies our biggest strength.

As a coach I’d think this would be an obvious way to attack our D, and would have been working on a counter punch all off season. Hopefully Ron and JDR are on it… cus this is gonna get old real fast. Luckily we don’t face ttit until late in the year. I’m a cheap fan, “Just Beat Dullass!” And I’m happy lol

Sooo tank for Tua didn’t work out… is it mediocre for Manning 2025? Lol

I don't disagree with anything you said.

I can't understand why the front four have been so easy to nullify. I think it has more to do with performance than game-planning personally. Each guy is really just responsible for a line battle each time, and right now they aren't winning enough of them.

It hasn't just been quick hitting plays that have been successful, there were times Josh Allen could have knit a sweater in the pocket.

Whatever other teams are doing, is working.

Whatever we are, isn't.

How's that for technical?
