We are finally back

We are finally back. I'm really sorry for the absence. I understand that quite a few of the people on this board really liked using the board, despite the fact that internet trends have moved away from such communities and into the social network realm. You can read a bit about why the absence occurred .

I was unsure whether I would even re-open the forums after being closed for near on two years. To be honest, the software is out-of-date and will need to be completely re-vamped in the not too distant future. That may prove to be a big job, it may not.

So I thought what i would do for now is re-open the board... send out invitations to re-join and start from there. If people come back and use the forums, I will keep them open and make plans to update the software.

In the meantime, I am going to close registration, to ensure a more maintenance free environment - no spammers - no illicit bots. This means that if you try to return and cannot remember your login credentials, you will not be able to just create a new account. That's by design because it makes a lot more sense for me to try and allow the user to keep his old account by working with them to gain access.

If some of the community come back, we will work together to establish new rules, new forums, and decide what to do with archiving older posts. This community has always tried to be about the community and not individuals.

Lastly, if you're reading this, i just want to say, "Welcome Back!!"

I look forward to re-connecting with you... finding out how your lives are going... talk bout this Redsk... oops sorry, this Washington Football Team. Wow, some things have REALLY changed since last time you were here.

So please... sound off, say hello, and thanks for your patronage!!!

Just wanted to say I've missed this site. Despite being able to connect with people on Facebook, etc., it's not the same.

I don't know if folks will come back around, but I'll be here if they do.

Really good to see NC43Hog and riggofan again. Been wondering how you guys -- and many others -- have been.

Its funny how much the work we did as a group set me up for success in my current professional work. Running a Developer Community isn’t much different. Its just Python versus Javascript instead of WFT versus Pukes.

I don’t know about the rest of you guys but I typed in http://www.the-hogs.net into my browser once a month for the last two years and stopped about three months ago and then - boom - I got yesterday‘s glorious email.

I am pleased.

Looking forward to digging into some old posts to find some things that were posted here and only here.

Happy to see the site back - missed it greatly. Time goes by - I am well, but getting up in years. 62 this year, but still play tennis 3 times a week.

Pretty quiet here. I've tracked a few people down so there may be some more rolling in.

I still haven't even spidered the site to Google yet while I have been fixing broken stuff, so that may also bring a few more people back.

But I have re-built almost all of the old pages now, so I'll get some sitemaps into Google this week and get the site re-indexed.

Don't be afraid to post. I'm too busy re-building stuff at the moment.

Plus it's post draft offseason. Yawn

time. Good time for me to get everything back up and running properly.

Most of the people listed were active when the board went down AND have been members for a loooong time... many of them more than 15 years... hence their emails on file being broken.

Any help is appreciated.

I'm not looking to get 1000s back, but I would like to have a good base of Washington fans back, so that dialogue is good and the boards are worth keeping open.

I submitted over 3000 links to Google today, so while it will likely take a couple of days, that should hopefully at least get the site back into the search world.

Which may bring a few people back around to the boards as well.
