"For sure" "Facts"
I cant use absolutes like that man... I dont know the future- Colt had another procedure and Case could break his leg walking in the building!
I think Haskins is the day 1 starter.. We can start a poll in another thread. Good idea. Im not back tracking one bit

Re: 2019 NFL DRAFT
Look at all the QBs drafted in the top half of the first since 2014.

What does that have to do with Haskins not starting game 1. Money says he doesn't

Stoked about the Ross Pierschbacher pick ... thought he would be long gone by now.

Ross Pierschbacher[/u]
Strengths
a great first step at the point of contact;
can play interior offensive lineman as a guard and center;
great continuous push on run plays;
sharp, high-football I.Q.;
great instincts on recognizing blitzes;
disciplined and rarely makes pre-snap mistakes;
efficient as a reach blocker;
a tough and consistent blocker in the running and passing game.
Weaknesses
lacks overall quickness despite great first-step;
has poor balance especially in his knee when pass protecting;
possesses shorter arms than other prospects;
can get pushed back while pass protecting;
not highly explosive at the point of contact;
lacks overall athleticism to play consistently fast;
underwhelming in terms of play strength.

Re: 2019 NFL DRAFT
Cole Holcomb
Pos:
Tough, instinctive linebacker who gets the most from his ability. Quickly picks up assignments, remains disciplined and gives great effort. Diagnoses plays before they unfold, fluidly flows to the action and quickly locates the ball. Does a great job making the defensive calls in the middle of the field. Fires up the field to fill gaps and gives effort against the run. Squares and wraps up tackling.
Neg:
Undersized, struggles to get off blocks and gets washed up in the trash. Lacks foot speed, which will cause mismatches against faster tight ends. Analysis: His approach to the game and ability to diagnose could help him find a roster spot as a backup.
Not sure why we need a lLB with no speed who can't cover RB or TE. He must be a RB tackling machine. Ask Danny

Re: 2019 NFL DRAFT
Give me Brett Rypien in round 7 for that Gus Frerotte effect. That is the Redskin way.
This Cole Holcomb and Montez Sweat might be my favorite picks in this draft. Our defense is going to boost our time of possession off the charts. I like that 2nd strongest Wes Martin in the draft at guard as well.

There will be a ton of decent undrafted FA at the WR position which we should sign immediately after the draft.

David Sills and Beau Benzschawel should be on the Redskins UDFA list.

The more I see the more I love... And I made a thread last year called "All in for Ohio st" wanting not just Haskins but coach Urban Myer too... I'll call it good with Haskins and one of his WRs tho!

Wes Martin a mauler in the run game. Peterson running left will pay off for big yards. Offense will have no excuses with these additions on the line and receivers.

Looks like with Sweat and Holcomb this defense just got seriously better. I think this Holcomb guy is a Sean Lee type talent. Heard he is a tackling machine running a 4.5. That is insane he fell to us. Seriously stout defense now. Seriously

Please don't forget my boy LANDON COLLINS!!!
The D should help our young QB tremendously. On paper I think we look mean af-l with the Bama boys and our new additions- maybe some db depth; we did add Jimmy Moreland in the 7th.
I just watched Harmon play. Why did he fall so far?

The only move they didn't make that I'm not happy about is grabbing David Sills off the UDFA list. That guy should not have gone undrafted. Buffalo got a player.

And my favorite "Where did he come up with this?" nonsense story of the draft:
Dave Gettleman of the New York Football Midgets thinks both Denver and Washington would have taken Daniel Jones over Dwayne Haskins and Drew Lock.

Re: 2019 NFL DRAFT
Ross Pierschbacher is extremely agile and quick. If he can get in that weight room and get stronger with some real focus on doing so he is also going to be a beast. Madich said that if you could combine Martin and him into one you would have the ultimate O Lineman. I see Ross being able to add strength much easier than Martin getting more agile but they are both good right now and are an upgrade from what we have day 1.
Getting Martin in tremendous endurance shape and getting Ross in the weight room can only make these picks even better. These were really good picks.
We still need a TE that can catch and block at an elite level. Gruden still needs a two TE set. They had two for the pass game but neither Reed nor Davis can block so it gave the intention away and if they called a run just to try and keep them honest two guys weren't getting blocked

Other than one less receiver in the set? Did we get some receivers that can get open on their own while I was sleeping?[/quote]
What are you saying exactly? Two tight ends would take away a receiver so that wastes his talents? That makes no sense. Surely that is not what you are trying to say. I misunderstand what you're trying to say
Unless you are conceding he just needs his receivers to go long and out run everyone like they did in college. That's it right? Although that won't happen in the NFL often. No that can't be it either. I guess
Explain to me again why two tight ends would waste his talents. I gots to know.. Dirty Harry like

Wes Martin
Had 1469 snaps at guard allowing just two sacks over his last two seasons, best amongst all collegiate guards
Martin, a 6-foot-3, 316 lbs. mauler, comes to the Redskins with a reputation for brute strength. Speaking with the media, Martin explained that he was disappointed in his bench press performance at his Pro Day when he posted 225 lbs. 38 times. That's a lot.

Re: 2019 NFL DRAFT
Jumping in this thread very late.
I just want to say that having been a Redskins fan for over 50 years now, this is the first time I ever felt "proud" of this team's draft efforts. Are they gonna finish 10-6 or better and make the playoffs now? I sincerely doubt it; however, I truly think I join many other Redskins fans out there with more optimism than I've had in quite some time.

Re: 2019 NFL DRAFT
Holcomb's path to immediate playing time likely comes through special teams, but it's not like this defense is stacked at inside linebacker. Reuben Foster is cleared to play for now but counting on him for 16 games would be irresponsible, and Shaun Dion Hamilton and Mason Foster don't have the athleticism that Holcomb has.
You have every right to be fired up about Haskins and Sweat and McLaurin and everyone else. Just don't forget about Holcomb.
"Well when you’re looking at linebackers this day in age, you want to make sure they have the ability to cover in space and that’s what his gift is," Gruden said. "He’s very good out in space."
Holcomb the gem in the draft. Maybe even Moreland.

Re: 2019 NFL DRAFT
Holcomb My favorite pick in the draft update
He is an athletic freak: His 40 time of 4.48 would have been 4th among linebackers (behind only the Devins and Gary Johnson) at the Combine; His broad jump of 132” would have been tops among LBs; His vertical of 39.5” would have tied him for second, with Devin White (only Devin Bush leaped higher); His 22 reps would have tied him at 12th - with Devin White. Athletically, in fact, Holcomb appears to mirror Devin White very closely.
I do believe we found someone to stop the run and in our division this is a must. See ya Zach
2nd favorite Wes Martin tied with Harmon
The offensive line only allowed 13 sacks (7th lowest in the nation). During his sophomore year, Martin started all 13 game at left guard. Devine Redding became the first Indiana RB to post back to back 1,000 seasons in 25 years. In his junior season, he started all 12 games at left guard and recorded the most pass blocking snaps (569) in the country without allowing a sack (among 298 college guards, Quenton Nelson was the only other to perform similarly).
He’s strong as an ox, and with some coaching up by Bill Callahan, could end up being a book end with Brandon, and helping to anchor our interior offensive line for years to come.
In addition to an intriguing option at guard, Martin appears to be a really good guy. Apparently, he started a dog rescue, Brave Breed Rescue, with his family. Hopefully, this fall he’ll be helping out pups in the DMV.
We now have a left guard and a return to the HOGS!!

*Sprinkle is good at both.. But not an elite athelete like the star TEs out there. I heard Rudolph from the Vikes might be otw out. He shows up big then disappears. We might consider pursuit if he is let go

Although not a great excuse, lets not forget about the injuries....I think we compete for the division/wildcard without them??

Re: 2019 NFL DRAFT
Maybe we have a Sims and Sims Jr uprise at WR??? Cam on one side and mini me Sims Jr? Let Jdoc and Prich fight the rooks for the other side?

Udfa with some speed and upside- some E Sanders comparisons.. Maybe djax like but leas afraid of contact.
Probably will fight for returb duty and special team.. But we need speed at wideout

I like this Steve Sims. He is a ball player and just what we need. I think we got a steal with him. A gem no doubt. If he can catch all that comes his way he has the speed and route running ability to start for this team. Awesome pick up

Re: 2019 NFL DRAFT
Just saw why Harmon slipped to the 6th round. Because he ran a 4.6 forty. I don't know about you but 4.6 aint bad. Especially being a bigger WR. Basically he fell to the 6th because he is 9/100ths of a second slower than Julian Edelman. If Harmon is nearly as quick as Edelman we got a steal. Harmon has some moves. He can fake you out of your shoes. He is really good within the first 10 yards to separate. That is all that really matters. I just hope Haskins doesn't throw it a 100 miles an hour for a 10 yard pass. Sure hope he has some touch. Harmon is going to be a gem we stole in the 6th who is going to demand top money in 5 years.

Re: 2019 NFL DRAFT
The 40 yard dash is hardly what to expect when in pads and running a route, shaking dbs, and contesting catches. One of the best WRs of all time HOFer Jerry Rice put up a 4.7... I rest my case

BOM!
We def have some unproven talent in the WR room this year. Hopefully these guys can gell with who ever is slingn the rock. Love to see JDoc live up to his potential... But I also really liked the maximum effort Cam Simms displayed in preseason... Wouldn't be sad at all if JDoc ended up riding pine while the hungrier wide outs get fed!!

Does anyone remember Frank Budd? He was the fastest man in the world from the Olympics. He was a gigantic failure as an NFL receiver with the Redskins.
