Re: Keenum
Well, that's a cheap solution. Maybe they're expecting Alex Smith back this season after all.

Ay ay ay. Here we go again...
[Redacted. His stats look good for a starting QB]
How does this impact the draft?

Re: Keenum
WOW - how exciting is this - Case Keenum

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I AM STOKED FOR CASE!!!!
lol. No seriously, this moves hurts my bones. I agree with what BGF just wrote, but still my bones are hurting.
I'm going to reserve judgement on this move though for a few weeks. If they make some other moves in FA or the draft, it might look better than it does now. If the strategy though is just: we're going into 2019 with either Colt or Case Keenum as our starter. Well, damn. I understand their choices may be limited. But still. Damn.

Re: Keenum
Not a terrible move, I'm assuming he will compete with Colt. Josh Johnson is not the answer!! I'm hoping the Skins will kick the can down the road
to 2020 on drafting a QB... Alex situation will be more clearer and the QB draft pool much deeper!

Re: Keenum
It seems to me that this is a nothing move other than to blow smoke up the fans posteriors again. Keenum is not better than McCoy. He just had better surroundings to work with.

Re: Keenum
Keenum has ties to the coach in Arizona. My bet is that the Redskins still trade for Rosen and send Keenum and a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick to the Cardinals.

Re: Keenum
Keenum is the smartest choice Redskin management could have made: a OK starting QB for only a 6th or 7th round pick, and Denver picks up part of his salary. Rare for me to say that Allen (and his employees) have made a smart move, but, so it is.
However, the Redskins need to draft a good QB, and they are unlikely to find one if they draft in the middle by having finished 8 - 8 again.
Just an experiment, though: how many first round picks by the Redskins have turned into good starting QB's? Of those I remember:
- Jack Scarbath: flop (I heard about Scarbath when his younger brother, Dick, played QB for Maryland)
- Ralph Guglielmi: flop
- Norm Snead: career starter for Redskins and other teams
- Gary Beban: flop. (Strange draft: Rams selected Beban in the seconds round, but Beban refused to sign, so the Rams traded Bebans right to Washington for a first round pick). Vince Lombardi arrived thinking that Beban might be a throwing running back, like Paul Hornung, but Beban lost the half-back job to Larry Brown.)
- Joe Theismann: (traded first round pick to Miami for the rights to Joey T). Among the best the team has ever had.
- Heath Shuler: flop. (Jay Shroeder was a third-round pick, Mark Rypien a sixth round pick, Stan Humphries a sixth round pick)
- Patrick Ramsey: flop
- Robert Griffin III: had that rookie season, and then...

Re: Keenum
Not a bad move by the Skins. We're getting him damn near free: swapping a 6th for a 7th rounder and only paying $3.5 million for a year of service. He'll make more money off the Broncos than the Skins next year.
That said, I think this price reflects how likely he is to be The Answer at QB for us. If we can get journeyman performance — and Redskins fans more than anyone can judge whether someone's giving us a journeyman's performance — I'll be happy.

Re: Keenum
That "throw in Keenum + a pick" to Arizona theory seems really dubious to me. Not that it doesn't make sense. I just have a hard time believing the Skins could orchestrate this whole thing. lol.
I still kinda think if they get Rosen they'll just keep him, Keenum and Colt. At least for this year. Three QBs would not be too many, especially given what they went through last year.
