It's hard to believe that Dan and Bruce (or anyone with any sense) can not see that this franchise needs to do something to address the issues that this franchise is facing - I'd like to see a Todd Bowles or Gregg Williams come in but surely they must see the need for change at the top

this franchise is not a place where many would want to come and work or play but it might be a challenge that some would accept

My optimistic thought: ignore the QB spot, Redskins. Draft for WR, TE, fast linebackers and DB's. Draft good players, as mentioned above. If the team wins only four or five games next year, that's OK.

as of now it seems apparent that there will be no knee jerk reaction from the Redskins.
It's also apparent that with Dan Snyder still in control of things, there would not be many (if any) coaches that would really want to come here.

It doesn't matter what Bruce Allen does as long as he's not in charge of football operations where's he's demonstrated he's as useless as tits on a bull
hopefully Dan Snyder will add a GM and give him a year to see what else needs to be done

Safety, CB, Linebacker, WR, or pass rusher with the extra pick. But get Dalton Rizner one way or the other

I would love to have brought in Todd Bowles, but I'm not sure I'd characterize this as "inexcusable" on the part of the Redskins not to make a contract offer. It sounds like they reached out to him to gauge interest, see what his plans were. There are two dozen great reasons why the Tampa DC job is better than anything the Skins might have offered.

Only this time Allen has some football and political pedigree

I think Allen has now been
with us longer than Vinny was? Ten years almost?

Can't say the results have been dramatically different.

At this point Snyder is going to have to hire someone who "commands the room" to get any real assistants here...good luck with that!! Other than that he is stuck with trying to find the next young coach...

You know we've had a lot of discussions about the team missing out on players, not hiring certain coaches, etc; Watching the team right now unsuccessfully lure ANYBODY here for the DC job, not to mention the current coaches who are trying their best to get out of here, I think one has to conclude that basically nobody wants to come play or work here. At least nobody with better options.

Its not surprising but still kind of shocking. At least ten years ago, Snyder could blow people away with $$s they couldn't refuse. I don't know if he's no longer willing to go that route anymore or if people have realized its not worth the eventual hit to their reputations.

What do you think?

^^^^^ This!!! As I said the other day, what business does this...certainty not a successful one! Like I said Snyder will have to do his best to lure a proven GM here and let him make every other football decision. That's the only way I see coaches coming here in the future. Gruden is on a game by game basis right now, what assistant wants to coach in that environment?

There are many complaints about Bruce Allen, all earned by him. You guys keep saying he isn't doing his job very well. You are wrong, he is doing his job very, very well. He is doing exactly what Snyder wants him to do. He is not a knowledgeable football executive but he is an excellent kiss ass.

Well you're definitely not getting any good coordinators with a HC who's working on essentially the last year of his contract (owners and GM never let coaches go into the last year of their contract). I've been hard on leadership concerning McVay, but I heard JP Finley say McVay told him he would not have taken the Skins HC job had they fired Gruden and offered it to him, so not much else the Skins could have done outside throw a bucket of money at him. I do hold out hope that Snyder will see the turnaround in places like Cleveland and realize he's needs a real GM, I think that's the only way you get a legit coach here. There'll always be coaches who will take the job, there's only 32 of them and they pay well!

despite all the evidence, they will not accept that the losing culture and the mediocre win loss record is mainly because of their bad decisions

Allen will never say the team is "rebuilding". Never.

That's not the culture around here. We're just "in the process of getting better", year after year.

"Better" implies we're already "good", which is absolute fantasy for everyone except Bruce. He's delusional.

Can anyone remember when someone took responsibility for what's going on here?
Aside from Gruden and his constant staring at the floor during the post-game presser
no one here--not even the players--seem to be able to take some kind of responsibility.

The only saving grace I saw last season was the huge middle finger thousands of fans
showed Snyder by not going to FedEx Field. There's hope still.

Changing a few coordinators during the offseason won't be enough this time, Danny.
