^^^^ McVay can coach, yes he has players but you don't take a Fisher coached 4-12 team to 11-5 the very next season and 13-3 the next year, without being able to coach!

Only 11 coaches have won more games in the NFL than Jeff Fisher...

^^ No!
HOPEFULLY the Redskins keep all their draft picks - they're certainly not going to be competitive with these 2 bozos running things
AND
HOPEFULLY, after this season, Snyder 'sees the light' and brings in people to manage and run things

Re: Possible QB options for 2019?
I don't think we need to give up picks - someone will be here to back up McCoy and maybe even show he can be the starting QB
I think we'll see the Redskins FO make every effort to support the coaching staff in their effort to win as many games as possible
we're just not going anywhere until Snyder sees that his way is not working here

Re: Possible QB options for 2019?
Best option is Colt McCoy or Ryan Fitzpatrick and then get the best pash rusher and OL in the first 2 rounds and a WR in round 3. After that best player. The only other real option is Drew Lock if he can be had. He has the arm for sure. But that will lose the best pash rusher if he is selected. It's a gamble that way but Lock is capable. If Fitzpatrick can be had cheap i would go with him and draft a pass rusher, then OL to get that running game to average 4 yards a carry and then a WR to move the chains etc and get a QB in the draft 2020.
We have to get a speed rusher to get to the QB to make up for Linebackers who are weak in coverage. We have to speed up the opposing QB throwing the ball. Pass rusher is priority then a road grading mauler at guard to get this run game dangerous to help out any QB we have that is going to need all the help he can get. Then a WR that can create space or in other words one of the best route running WR we can get. Don't care if he is no speedster. If he can get open he is our man. If he runs a 4.6 forty but can cut on a dime or turn the CB in a circle you know what i'm talking about then he is the one to get.
Again i am available for GM but i want a hefty salary and total control of the draft and player acquisition. I will need a salary cap expert to cover my interests.

I just hope we load up on as many good players as we can so that when/if we get a new GM, he will be better situated to turn this thing around

I'm looking forward to seeing Guice back, but realistically isn't it like two years before these RBs really come back from the ACL?

Re: Possible QB options for 2019?
Pretty much. That's true.
And even if Guice were 100% healthy,
you can't expect the guy will come in and magically transform the offense with 20-25 carries a game.
That's not Gruden's preference. The guy wants to pass.
I believe we will draft a QB still, even if we have more pressing needs. Maybe even two QBs.
Right now we are toothless on offense. No one will respect a Colt-Johson duo.
That must change.

Re: Possible QB options for 2019?
does anyone really think that the Redskins are winning 7 or maybe 8 games this season?
they could have an injury free season and draft a QB that shows incredible promise and still not win 8 games ... at best
the reality is this franchise is not getting better until we get a new GM

Re: Possible QB options for 2019?
I hope that the Redskins take the cap hit for Alex Smith this year, as suggested above. Smith will not be strong enough to play in 2019, so why hold his contract/rights through 2020? Without Smith, the 2019 season will be another 6 - 8 win season, no matter who the team signs at QB.
Sign a veteran and inexpensive backup. Let 2019 be a season to fill in the holes and to evaluate players under contract.
Maybe trade Josh Norman for draft choices.

Sadly, yes. Dalton could actually be an "upgrade".

Teddy B? He won a single playoff game with a stacked Minnesota team. That's it.
I'd rather roll the dice in the draft.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Maybe admins can start a FRONT OFFICE forum where those of us interested in complaining about Dan and Bruce can hang out.

Re: Possible QB options for 2019?
I want to talk about what moves the Redskins should make, but not about what Snyder-Allen will do.
- The team ought to draft the best players available, continuing to build up talent.
- Biggest needs? Aside from the obvious ("everywhere"), the Redskins have not had receivers for the last two seasons. Worst WR's in football, and the only TE, Vernon Davis, is playing beyond retirement age. Having missed trades for Amari Cooper and Golden Tate, who might be available?
- Is it worth trading for receivers for 2019? Get a place-holder QB, such as a career backup, and let him share time with Colt McCoy.
- Pay off Alex Smith now, and have money for 2020. Why live out 2019 on the hope that Smith will play again?

Re: Possible QB options for 2019?
This team has a terrible record selecting WRs in the high rounds of the draft. At least for the last 20+ years.
It all starts with the QB. Play the numbers and hope you draft another Cousins out of luck. Once that's done, assemble his crew.
Don't know if I can stand another season of junkyard QBs.

Re: Possible QB options for 2019?
Because of the issues we have, the sensible thing would be to look ahead - we do need a QB but we don't need to just go get a QB
This draft and this season needs to be used to make sure we have a good bunch of young players to build around so that we can start to put a more competitive unit together in 2020

Re: Possible QB options for 2019?
I agree with SJ that we shouldn't "take a QB just to take a QB". But we should still try like hell to evaluate and acquire one if possible. Cleveland is a great example of a team who spent years and years adding good players with high draft picks and continuing to be terrible the entire time because they couldn't address QB.

Re: Possible QB options for 2019?
Every team needs a good QB and our QB situation is a mess - I just don't see it getting resolved soon - until then, I would make the team better in other areas - we're really not far away from having a good O line + there are many other positions of need - let's build the roster with young players so that when we get a franchise QB we can have the other pieces in place

Don't see AP here for another season, Riggo. He's what? 34 at the start of next season?
Great effort, though. Maybe be wants to come in as a RB coach?

Re: Possible QB options for 2019?
I agree 100%. But neither those RBs + AP.
I admire the guy, but he's past his prime.
Sadly, he disappeared in lots of games last season even when Gruden called his number.
But hey, at least RB has a better outlook than our current QB position.

Re: Possible QB options for 2019?
Best option is Stidham from Auburn in round 3 with our second pick there. TJ Hockenson can block and catch like Gronkowski and would get him Round 1 if Sweat isn't there. So Hockney or Sweat round 1, Rizner at Guard or your favorite OL round 2 and WR David Sills round 3 then Stiidham with second 3rd round pick. Three starters right away and maybe four if Stidham learns quickly but Colt will start day 1.
If we get Hockney and cut Reed we save enough money to add another starter in free agency which means getting Hockney actually gives us another draft pick sort of by being able to add another starter with the money saved on Reed. Maybe being able to add a second round talent to start somewhere.
