Just signed offensive lineman Austin Howard. Guess we still need two or three more?

Not a good place to be ... Doug Williams has a clue about players - dumb and dumber sure don't ... and they're in charge

Well, we knew this would happen at one moment during the season.
Let's see if we have some kind of depth this year.

Re: Injuries
At this juncture, I'm hoping for "three yards and a cloud of dust". Three times in a row.
Maybe a deep bomb once or twice during the game.
Screens are not our forte. We rarely sell them well because we're not a big-play team.
They were for a brief time when Garcon, Crowder and DJax did some kind of blocking downfield.
With our current lineup, not so much.
Hence my opening Joe Bugel reference. I really, REALLY, hope I'm wrong on this one.

Re: Injuries
These injuries are very hurtful but if this team ends up 5-5 after starting 5-2 with a defense that was ranked in the top 5, things will start to get very interesting here

Re: Injuries
there's no way of knowing what Snyder is thinking or planning - unfortunately, I think that he likes to surround himself with "yes men" and he heeds their input - I'm not sure many of those guys (if any) have any real clue about the NFL
nobody can predict what Snyder will do - he has made many mistakes and doesn't seem to learn much from them
the franchise is worth more than double what he paid and he's loving that

Re: Injuries
As best I remember, the Post suggested that LaFemina had been sent from NFL HQ to drag the Redskins out of the mud. The league is concerned that Washington, one of the biggest and oldest and most important franchises, had sunk to the bottom. LaF was instructed to teach the Redskins how to be a modern business. NFL worried that Snyder has driven away much of the Redskin fan-base. The other pro teams in Washington are well run (Nats and Caps) or at least adequately run (Wizards).
Re: Injuries
Injuries today (so far):
- Washington Redskins tackle Ty Nsekhe injured his ankle against the Buccaneers
So says NFL.com. Can that be all?

Every team has injuries. The Redskins scored sixteen points against a team that gives up 39 points a game this season.
Jay Gruden's offense is garbage and he refuses to adjust.

Re: Injuries
The 2018 Redskins started out with no WR's. Then the OL went out with injuries, except for Roullier (Moses seems to be playing hurt). Smith was never a razzle-dazzle QB.
Gruden seems to be calling a careful game, and that's about all the offense can manage.

2 things that bug me is the very conservative offense and the prevent defense
I know it's a bit of a cliche but we don't play well when we're behind - we play like we don't want to lose, too much
we are 6-3 and that's a good thing

Re: Injuries
Alex doesnt have thieland or digs to huck it up to. Not much chemistry due to camp injuries then losing his top 2 wideouts not to mention the patchwork oline... I dont envy his situation.
Is he playing to the level we expected? No the accuracy he displayed last year isnt there yet...
Not making excuses but it has to be factored whwn blasting him.. He also only has 2 picks?
We dont really have the roster to sling it like Breezy does- he also isnt that caliber of a qb- we knew this

Wow, Trent just upgraded himself to "questionable" for Sunday. Can't use his right thumb, but one handed TW is still better than 30 other LTs in the league.

I don't think anyone's 'blasting' Smith but I agree with C'trey in that he's not at all comfortable in making the deep pass
btw - I'm V glad that we don't have that wimp Cousins here and I understand that he doesn't have the players around him that he played with last season - he still needs to do a better job of running this offense with whomever is on the field with him

I'm very sorry about what happened to Smith but I'm really looking forward to having McCoy play QB for the remainder of this season
this season was basically about getting ready for next season for a while now - we're very fortunate to be 6-4 ...
we can still beat up on the other teams in the NFC East and that would be a great lead in to next season
looking forward to Thursday's game

Re: Injuries
So we're basically looking for a 1st round QB in next years draft.
Colt can steady the ship and maybe squeeze us into a wildcard game.
After today, I can't see Alex playing another down in the NFL.

Re: Injuries
I'll say two things about Colt McCoy:
1) He stepped in admirably yesterday and gave us a legit shot to win. Maybe you see that happen a lot in games where the opponent hasn't prepared for the backup QB, but he looked ready to play.
2) He's been here for several years. We could be in a lot worse shape at QB right now.
That said, there are at least two major concerns with Colt:
1) He has always been a massive injury risk. We saw how much he took off and ran yesterday with the ball. That's why he's had concussion issues and didn't complete the season for us the last time he was starting.
2) He doesn't have a great arm. We definitely saw that on some of the deep throws yesterday. So everyone who likes to come on here and complain that we're not taking enough deep shots, better get a reality check.
I don't know. It would be a great story to see Colt McCoy come in and be this year's Nick Foles. Lord knows this team and its fans deserve some good luck after all the setbacks this year.

Re: Injuries
For a team most of the experts predicted to win seven games we were this close to having seven wins already. I'm not sure how anyone can classify this season as a failure no matter what happens from here forward. This team has exceeded expectations in every way. And that was before the rash of injuries.

Re: Injuries
this season could certainly not be classified as a failure - this franchise was expected to win 6 or 7 games and is a bottom third of the league franchise - we still are - Alex Smith got us to 6 wins and IMO we're in better shape with Colt McCoy to go onto the playoffs - we could even win the Super Bowl ...
we were always going to be looking for Smith's replacement at QB - he's shown that he's not a top tier QB anymore
that 94M contract with 71M guaranteed, looks like a stupid decision right now, but what do I know - maybe some of you can clarify that
